Continuing the Work

The past week has had its ups and downs with trying to get back into the routine of teaching at the school and preparing bible studies for the evenings while adjusting to everything going on around me. However I haven't felt this close to the Lord in a long time. Depending on Him for my every need while giving thanks that I have been given this wonderful opportunity to serve these precious children.

As I try and compare what my life in New Zealand was like growing up to what these children are experiencing everyday is most definitely at the two opposite extremes.  As they rejoice in the simple things of life and joyfully sing songs of praise to the Lord while completely undistracted by the world around them, I can't help but give thanks to God for His mercy and grace. For He has taken them out of some very difficult family situations and brought them into His loving care by providing for their every need.

I find that each day has it's own challenges, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.  At times I feel the responsibilities are too much for me and I begin to think that I'm not adequate enough as they deserve better. But yet these children continually show such kindness and love towards me and express their thankfulness that I am simply here sharing life with them.  It certainly brings everything in my life into perspective as I begin to realise what truly matters and what is truly lasting.

"I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds." Jeremiah 17:10

I hope to have the strength to continue the Lord's work here for as long as He wants me to. Each one of these children are so precious in the sight of God, they deserve only the very best. I also hope to show forth Christ's character in all that I do and say.

My luggage showed up at around 9pm on Wednesday night. A guy dropped it off from the back of an auto-rickshaw. The lock on the zips was missing and it looked to have been searched inside. Thanking the Lord that nothing was missing. The average temperature is a comfortable 29 degrees and my health appear to be alright so far.

I aim to update the blog again sometime during the week.

  2. I am very happy Daniel to see you in the children's Hunsur. It felt as if you have taken over a part of my work there. Praise the Lord Jesus. He called you to do this ministry. Go on in His strength! Greet The staff and children in my name as "uncle Kees" from Holland.
