Examples of God's Grace - Part 2

The past week has been busy with the daily routine consisting of preparing a bible study in the morning, teaching at the school during the day, helping the kids with their homework in the afternoon, then taking the bible study in the evening. However it is a blessing to be able to serve the Lord in this way and to be apart of these children's lives.

The Girls from Bangalore
Last year a large group of girls, 13 of them, were transferred from an orphanage in the big city of Bangalore down to Raju's orphanage in Hunsur. There were all sorts of issues with their previous orphanage however by God's grace He has taken these precious children into His loving care and brought them into a much better environment. They each have their own individual story to tell, from an abusive family background to a series of very sad events. However they know they have not been left alone in this world, for they have a heavenly Father that loves them more than they can imagine. Each one of them has a real desire to learn from God's word. Over the last three weeks I've been giving all the children various memory verses to learn, 24 verses in total, and on Sunday I tested everyone to see how many they could remember. Most of these girls from Bangalore could recite all if not most of the verses which is rather incredible, and in the English language also.

A lovely girl named Sandya who is growing up fast
The above picture is of a very lovely young girl named Sandya who is always so kind to me. From my previous visit until now she has grown up quickly and is now 6 years old. Sandya and her older sister Sahana (9 years old) have been at the orphanage for a little over 2 years now. After their mother passed away their father was unable to take care of them as he was not only very poor but also had a drinking problem. Unfortunately he very rarely visits Sandya and her sister at the orphanage and you can really notice the hurt that she feels at times from this. She would tell me with excitement: "Daniel sir, my father said he is coming this Sunday to take me shopping and to get a hair cut!", but sadly he didn't turn up that Sunday.

Last Sunday we had another very encouraging youth meeting. We've been looking at the topic of 'Living the Christian Life' and this time we studied Ephesians 4:1-3, 17-27 where Paul brings in the picture of walking and putting off / putting on. We finished the study with reading Ephesians 3:16-21 which are also very encouraging verses.

"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God." - Ephesians 3:17-19

The computer classes that I take at the school have been going well. The class has 7 basic computers and I teach the kids aged 9-15 years olds. Most of the kids have never touched a computer before so it requires a lot of patience to teach them but as you can guess all the students really enjoy spending time on them.

The weather is still a very reasonable temperature which is good. Most afternoons I play soccer with the boys after school which is a lot of fun. I'm thankful to the Lord that my health is still good which is a blessing. I've booked my flight ticket from Bangalore to Vijayawada for the 19th September from which I hope to meet up with Keith Simpson and travel around the East side of India while looking for opportunities to teach God's Word.
